The Harper County Fair Board and Harper County Extension staff have been in conversation regarding the 2020 Harper County Fair that is scheduled for August 5-8. We know many of you are concerned with whether or not the fair will happen. At this time the plan is to continue with preparations for the fair as we would in a normal year. Our understanding is currently there is not a timeline on restricting the gatherings of groups. The hope is with due diligence on the publics part that the spread of COVID-19 will be limited and by the time August gets here things will be back to a semblance of normal. There is always a possibility that factors outside of our control may require us to postpone or cancel the fair. That decision will be made at a later date as directives are released from the Harper County Board of Health, Harper County Health Department or the State of Kansas. If postponement or cancellation is required rest assured our volunteers and staff will find innovative ways for 4-H, FFA and Open Class participants to showcase their projects. We understand that the Harper County Fair is one of the largest social events of the county. We want it to stay as one of the safest social events for Harper County so we will keep the public as well as participants well-being in mind with any decisions that are made. Thanks for your understanding as we proceed through this time of uncertainty.
